Publishing patterns is only one part of the mix. If one publishes patterns in addition to selling the finished item then anyone who bothers to buy the pattern and actually make it has a glimmer of an idea of the time involved …

I have a small jar which holds all my blunt/broken needles and bent pins (yes, I know I shouldn’t sew over them!). I change my needles regularly – and I also clean my machines regularly too. Considering how much machines cost, it makes sense to look after them.
