We need to speak up and speak out. The quote that sits on my desk;
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead
But let’s be a large group of thoughtful, committed citizens instead!

Hi Michelle – thank you for your kind encouragement. I lost less than 1% of my subscribers, with only one really hostile email. The writer said she had been a fan and supporter of mine for a while, but no longer as I shouldn’t write politics on my blog. I researched how long she had been with me, and it was for quite a while. I thought it interesting that she didn’t seem to mind me engaging gender politics (as I hadn’t heard from her then) but this sent her over the edge. I think it says more about her than me. And with such a small loss in readership (that was made up in less than a week with new subscribers) I feel like I’m hanging out with the right people. I don’t think we can remain neutral on stuff that hurts people, so I’ll just keep speaking to that. Cheers!

I appreciate that you may lose some customers over this post, but I believe you will reap other rewards.

In my community, raising awareness of how our First Nations are treated, is an issue important to me. I have been quite horrified by some of the things I have witnessed, words I have heard uttered by non-Cowichan peoples. I count myself blessed to have friends in the First Nation community.

Why are some people treated as being ‘less than’?

Specially like the action plan. Though aware for decades that I benefit from the privilege of white skin, I’ve been at a loss what I can do to change things. so thanks for the action plan.

From a Canadian perspective, we pray that your country can find its way past this horrible time. It pains me to see all this violence.
