Did you ever have a moment where you saw a friend achieve something great, and get so proud you thought you could pop? I’m having one of those moments for my friends Maddie, Les, and Flaun, who own SPOOL, a great quilt shop in Chattanooga!
Their shop won a coveted spot in the Quilt Sampler top shops edition, and the magazine is on stands right now. And Flaun designed a quilt for the magazine too!
I’ve known these ladies through the industry for a few years (you can read about how I met Maddie here and Flaun here), and I love what they’re doing. Maddie started the BadAss Quilters Society, a place for any and all quilters to be comfortable being themselves. She and Flaun took this concept and built Spool around it, and made it a gorgeous destination store that does its best to encourage and support everyone that comes in. They also carry a thoughtfully curated selection of fabrics that includes something for everyone. You can read more about it in the magazine.
Both Maddie and Flaun pitched in when I was writing Quilt Talk, and they both have quilts in the book:
They continue to support me by promoting my patterns in their shop, and Flaun is one of my cherished pattern testers and proofreaders!
Flaun allowed me to return the favor in proofing her pattern for the magazine…look at that ORANGE and yummy quilting! Swoon!
It’s called “Just an Illusion” and is made with Cherrywood Fabrics (Spool is an exclusive distributor for these well-loved hand-dyed fabrics). Spool is selling kits for this quilt, and in an alternate colorway too, in case ORANGE isn’t your thing 😉
Go grab the magazine (and if you can’t find it locally, you can order it from Spool – it’s full of yummy inspiration and great patterns.
And huge congrats to Maddie and Flaun – brava!! I’m so proud I could pop!
